प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की प्रभावी कूटनीति के चलते अंतरराष्ट्रीय न्यायालय में भी भारत को शानदार सफलता मिली है। क्योंकि असंभव दिखने के बावजूद भी संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने भारतीय उम्मीदवार दलवीर भंडारी को ICJ का जज चुन लिया है। भारत की कूटनीतिक रणनीति इतनी शानदार रही कि ब्रिटेन को अपने उम्मीदवार क्रिस्टोफर ग्रीनवुड की उम्मीदवारी वापस लेने को मजबूर होना पड़ गया। जबकि ब्रिटेन के पास सुरक्षा परिषद में वीटो का भी अधिकार प्राप्त था। भारतीय उम्मीदवार को जनरल एसेंबली में 183 मत मिले, जबकि सुरक्षा परिषद में उनको 15 मत प्राप्त हुए। ICJ की आखिरी सीट के लिए ये मतदान आयोजित किया गया। 1945 में स्थापित ICJ में ऐसा पहली बार हुआ है जब इसमें ब्रिटेन का कोई न्यायाधीश नहीं होगा। केंद्र में जब से प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की सरकार है, एक के बाद एक सभी अंतरराष्ट्रीय मंचों पर भारत ने कामयाबी के झंडे लगातार गाड़े हैं।
